Greetings!

Now is a good time to calmly review and update one’s estate planning documents. We want to minimize the things we’re worrying about.

If you know someone who has not yet prepared themselves with estate planning, please consider referring them to me. I appreciate all referrals.

For those of you who’ve worked with me before, you may know that I like to give clients a “homework” assignment. While we are on retreat, I would like to give you an optional homework assignment.  You may like this idea.

Apart from our legal estate planning documents, there’s a very old practice of making an Ethical Will, also sometimes called writing a Legacy Letter.  It’s not legally binding but it’s very valuable as a practice and as something left behind for one’s loved ones. We take some time to write an essay or a letter to our heirs, beneficiaries and friends, summarizing what our lives have been about: our values, our insights, our contributions, what we want people to remember about us. This can become an ongoing writing practice that we update from time to time. If you have the time and interest while we are on retreat, please consider writing something very personal about your life and legacy and add the writing to your notebook or folder of estate documents.

Please stay safe, steady and healthy. Please know that I’m available!
